Vapor Ministries

James 4:14b states that "You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." "Only one life t'will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last." - John Piper. We all have a ministry during our vapor time.

Awesome First Service and Barbecue

Everything here is going great. The service yesterday went well with almost 40 people in attendance. Some were not expected, so that was a huge blessing. You can read more and see pictures at Mary Demuth's blog (click on "April 2006" under "Archives" and scroll down to April 9). We are thankful for a successful first service. Thanks for praying.

Today's Texas Barbecue is going extremely well. There are about 90 people here! The barbecue was scheduled for 12 to 3, but it may go on until midnight. Meals and fellowship here go at a much slower pace. The focus is on enjoying the conversation and the company. No one is in a hurry.

I ask that you pray today for the barbecue to continue to go well. Many who attended the first church service yesterday came because of the relationships they had developed with the missionaries living here. This barbecue could be a great opportunity to form relationships with others.

Press On,
Darren

It is so great to hear everything is going well. I look forward to hearing more about your trip when you get back. With your love for history, Darren, it's too bad you're on the other side of France from Normandy.

I'm glad the French folks are enjoying Texas Barbecue. I don't think I could be nearly so gracious about escargot or steak tartare.

Be safe, we love you, will continue praying for much fruit to grow from the seeds planted there, and can hardly wait to see you and Kevin safely home again.

Love, Mom

Yeehaw! I loved the pics on Mary's blog. It looks like "y'all" were a hit. The bandanas were a great idea! Luke and I had a big 'ole Awana BBQ on the same day. (Hey, anything to support the team! We're with ya heart, soul, spirit & stomach! :)

We are still praying and can't wait to get the full report when you return.
